The regime troops are said to have invaded Leiktho town in the territory of KNU Brigade 2, and arrested 16 local residents and the other one was shot dead, according to the local sources.
Beginning on March 27, the junta army conducted extensive raids on the communities in the western parts of Mya Thar Gone village in Leiktho Township, engaging targets with both large and small arms while detaining civilians.
In addition, on the night of March 31, the junta army also burned down four homes of local residents in Than Moe Taung village, where they frequently clashed with KNLA and PDF forces.
On the 3rd and 4th of this month, the regime troops destroyed the homes of some local residents in Letpanbyu village in the western part of Mya Thar Gone, Kyauktakhar village tract, snatched five motorcycles and belongings, and shot a young man to death, the residents said.
In addition, 16 villagers were taken as guides and porters by the junta troops, seven of them were released at 8:00 a.m. on April 5, but the nine others are still in custody.
Due to the military activities and human rights violations of the military council targeting civilians, all the local people from the villages near Kyauk Phyar and Mya Thar Gone under Kyauktakhar village tract in Leiktho, have fled their villages and are in need of humanitarian aid such as food, medicine, and shelter, according to an official who assists the displaced people.
