According to the Tanintharyi People’s Defense Force, they ambushed a military convoy carrying food near Chaung Nyi Ko village in Tanintharyi Township in the morning of April 8.

At around 7:00 a.m. yesterday, the military council’s ration convoy of four vehicle coming from Myeik town to Bokepyin town was ambushed by the joint force of PDFs.

The exchange of fire lasted for more than an hour, and at least five members of the military regime were injured.

After that, the group of soldiers loaded their wounded soldiers into the car and continued towards Bokepyin Township, and the convoy could no longer be tracked, said a member of Tanintharyi PDF.

On the morning of April 7, the PDFs ambushed more than 40 junta troops who were marching on foot from Tanintharyi town towards Thein Khun village near Le Taungya village, killing one soldier and wounding another.

Since March, the military council has launched a massive offensive in Tanintharyi township, causing daily clashes and thousands of local residents to flee.

On April 3, the 2nd Battalion of the People’s Defense Army (Myeik District) issued an emergency warning to the people on April 3 to avoid passing on the Myeik-Bokepyin Union Road and Tonkhar-Mawtaung Road in Tanintharyi Township as the fighting intensified.
