A cargo train carrying rocks was hit by the landmine of an unidentified armed group
between Thahton and Yinnyein railway stations on the Yangon-Mawlamyine rail track in
Thahton Township in Mon state on 14 April afternoon, the locals said to Than Lwin
Times.


The train was en route from Yangon to Mawlamyine when it was under attack of
landmine, damaging wind mirror of locomotive and the track was cut about 2 feet, an
official of Mawlamyine railway station.


On 13 April, a passenger train en route from Mawlamyine to Yangon was attacked by
landmine between Thahton and Theinseik stations in Thahton Township. Although no
one was injured, the track was cut nearly 1 feet.

Landmine attack frequently occurred along Yangon-Mawlamyine rail track, and some
schedules were cancelled after the attacks in the past two years after the coup.
