Belin, April (18)
On April 16, two mines exploded in the villages of Taunggyi and Taungsun in Belin Township, Mon State, and then the regime forces apprehended eight youngsters, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
A hand-made mine burst near the Boe Boe Gyi shrine at the foot of Kay Lartha mountain in Taunggyi village, while another mine exploded near Taungsu Park in Taungsun village while villagers were splashing water.
Following the explosions, the junta troops detained eight young people in total: four youths from Taunggyi village and four from Taungsun village.
They were kept incommunicado until recently, said a local.
A 10-year-old boy was among the four residents injured by the mine explosions, which also caused some building damage.
After the military coup, there have been frequent bombings and exchanges of fire in Belin Township, resulting in the deaths or injuries of civilians.
