Myawaddy, April (30)

The regime troops used different kinds of heavy weapons to strike the Kyauk Taung area near Maekanei village in Myawaddy under KNU Brigade 6, said the revolutionary forces.

Since 10:30 p.m. on April 28, junta troops have been firing at the Kyauk Taung area with various heavy weapons, even when there is no fighting.

The junta army recently conducted an air raid in Mekanei’s Kyaktaung area, causing damage to the residences of the villagers.

Because the military council can no longer carry out attacks on the ground, they have begun targeting civilian areas and destroying homes and places of worship. Bombs that were dropped by junta planes contained explosives that had Thai words written on them and were likely made in Thailand.

The conflict between the military council and the KNLA revolutionary forces is still going on as of the end of April because the military council and its aligned Border Guard Force (BGF) have been conducting intense ground and air assaults in the KNU Brigade 6 area of Kyauk Taung in Maekanei since the end of March.

The junta troops and BGF suffered a number of fatalities during the one-month-long conflict, and the revolutionary forces were able to capture the camps and grab a lot of weapons and ammunition but lost some comrades.

The fighting forced thousands of local residents from Mekanei and other villages to flee to safety, and they have not been able to return to their homes until now, according to Karen social organizations.
