Thaton, May (11)
The junta troops have been carrying out reconnaissance by aircraft on a daily basis in recent
days in KNU Brigade 1, Thaton District, the officials from Brigade 1 told Than Lwin Times.
On May 7, the junta army bombarded the PDF camp and nearby Wapathe village in the
northern part of Mon State’s Ye township, and then continuously carried out reconnaissance on
the territory of KNU’s Thaton District.
On May 9, the regime troops carried out aerial reconnaissance at least 10 times in KNU’s
Thaton District areas, such as Kyaikto and Belin Townships.
Due to the military council’s aerial reconnaissance, the revolutionary forces have warned people
to take precautions against air strikes and to be especially careful when traveling.
Since last month, the military council’s Division 44, based in Kyaikto township, and the military
bases in Thaton District have been frequently attacked by the combined revolutionary forces
with heavy weapons and drones, prompting the military council to carry out airstrikes.
Last year, the junta aircraft bombed the old headquarters of KNU Brigade 1, but there were no
casualties and only some buildings were damaged.
