A man and his wife were shot and killed while returning from a gambling ring on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road in Phalam village in Mon State’s Paung Township on the morning of May 22, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
At around 3 in the morning that day, U Myint Lwin, 49, and Daw Khin Thidar Tun, 47, who were returning from gambling ring from Zinkyakik on a motorcycle, were shot and lying dead on the street.
U Myint Lwin died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the right eye and two gunshot wounds below the right arm, while Daw Khin Thida Tun died from a bullet wound in the neck and one in the left eye.
According to local residents, the murdered husband and wife were gambling operators, but Than Lwin Times has not yet been able to independently confirm the death incident.
It is reported that the deceased couple were taken to the public hospital in Paung Township by the locals.
The military lobbyists wrote on their posts on Telegram that the couple were assassinated by the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
It has learned that the gambling ring in Zinkyaik Township was opened with the permission of the military council after coup, and there are gambling rings with bets worth tens of thousands of Kyats.
