Real vs. Fake News

Mingalabar! Welcome to Than Lwin Times’ Real vs. Fake News program.

This program checks fake news and misinformation about revolution events on social media after the military takeover.

Today, we will verify the news spread by pro-junta fake accounts, “Members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) checked passenger vehicles at Shinma Taung Gate near the road leading to Yezagyo and Pakokku Townships, Magway Region, and five men and women were arrested blindfolded”.

This fake news was spread by fake Telegram accounts of military lobbyists Kyaw Win Maung and Han Nyein Oo since March 21, with photos.

The Than Lwin Times investigated the post and photos and discovered them to be false.

In fact, the photos being shared by the military supporters are not the photos taken recently, but the photos of the Yesagyo People’s Defense Force inspecting the vehicles on April 23, 2022.

It has been verified that the Yesagyo-PDF released a statement at that time requesting that vehicles cooperate in inspecting the roads on the Yesagyo – Chang-U road and other roads in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region.

According to military and security requirements, the roads in the township will be closed, and people will be notified through the Facebook page, according to the Yesagyo-PDF.

According to the reliable sources mentioned above, the fact that “Members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) checked passenger vehicles at Shinma Taung Gate near the road leading to Yezagyo and Pakokku Townships, Magway Region, and five men and women were arrested blindfolded”, is merely false information spread by junta supporters.
