Some civilians and junta troops were injured or killed in the attacks on the Donthami Bridge in Karen State and checkpoints in Thaton, Mon State, locals told Than Lwin Times.

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and PDF joint forces raided the Donthami Bridge checkpoint using heavy and small arms as well as explosive devices around 6 a.m. on June 1.

After the attack, there was an exchange of fire for more than an hour and a half, and passenger vehicles were stranded for hours.

It is reported that two soldiers were killed and at least five others were injured in the attack, while two civilians were killed and three were injured during the attack.

Residents said that the clinic, Durinseik village, and some of the residents’ fences were damaged due to the explosion of mortar shells during the battle of Donthami Bridge.

According to the chairman of the KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee, some joint forces were injured during the battle, and junta weapons were seized; further details will be disclosed.

The Donthami Bridge checkpoint has been under frequent attack during the more than two years of the military coup, with the junta suffering losses.
