Five local people, including a child, were injured as the junta fired artillery shells into Shwe Yaung Pya village in Mon State’s Belin Township, according to the KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee-Thaton District.

On the night of June 1, the junta artillery based in Zeewun village in Belin Township launched two heavy weapons into Shwe Yaung Pya village when there was no fighting.

The artillery shells fired by junta troops hit the house and injured five residents.

A three-year-old child was among the three who were injured, and local women, Naw Ah and Naw Gee, were also wounded.

It is reported that 54-year-old Naw Ah was seriously injured and was taken to Thathong District Hospital.

On May 27, the artillery shell fired by the junta landed in the compound of a monastery in Ah Win Gyi village of Belin Township, injuring a monk, two novices, and two local residents.
