The National League for Democracy issued a press release that its leader Daw Aung Suu Kyi will play a pivotal role in solving Myanmar’s ongoing crisis.

The press release to mark her 78th birthday on 19 June said that the detained state counsellor has been regarded as a reliable leader of the country, and the existing political problems resulting from the coup on 1 February 2021 coup could not be settled without her involvement.

Since her struggle for Myanmar’s democracy, she was arrested over 15 years, and again she has been kept in detention more than two years after 2021 coup again.

The 78th birthday of Myanmar’s democracy icon was celebrated by her supporters in many countries on 19 June.
