Thayetchaung, June (27)
On June 26, junta army set fire to more houses in Yange village in Tanintharyi Region’s Thayetchaung Township, which have been burned down twice, locals told Than Lwin Times.
The junta troops stationed at Mywe Taung near Yange village invaded the village yesterday at 8:00 a.m. and burned down the local houses.
At least three houses were destroyed by the arson attack by the military council troops, and a local resident said that the rising smoke could be seen from afar.
On the 11th and 16th of June, at least five houses were destroyed by junta troops in Yange village, where all the villagers had fled.
Since the first week of June, the resistance forces have engaged in fighting with massive junta troops who entered Thayetchaung Township.
As a result of the fighting, more than 5,000 local people, including those from Yange, Kanet Thiri, Kamyaing, and Weyit villages, have fled and have not been able to return to their homes until now.
Since the military coup, the junta army and subordinate groups have set fire to nearly 60,000 houses across the country, according to Data for Myanmar, a research group.
