More than 3,000 residents had to flee overnight as regime troops fired heavy weapons into Pawa village in Tanintharyi Township, members of resistance forces in Tanintharyi told Than Lwin Times.
The No. 316 Artillery, based in Mawdon village, fired at least five mortar shells into Pawa village around 7:00 p.m. on June 26.
As a result, residents and the displaced people in Pawa village fled to safe places overnight.
Pawa village is a large community with nearly 1000 housings, and it is also home to locals fleeing the conflict.
The IDPs are currently in need of humanitarian aid, including urgent food supplies, said a member of the resistance force in Tanintharyi.
More than 3,000 residents have reportedly fled from 10 villages, including Banlaw, Thamee Hla, Nyaung Pin Kwin, and Sin Gaung villages, due to the fighting that took place from June 17 to 19 in Tanintharyi Township, where martial law was declared.
