Sittway, 12 July
Security was tightened in Sittway city, Rakhine state, since three days before the visit of junta chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, arousing anxiety for the locals.
An official on condition of anonymity confirmed the fourth visit of junta chief to Sittway around 8 am on 10 July after the cyclone Mocha.
A local in Rakhine state said that his visit was a superfluous touch to self-reliance rehabilitation works of the locals affected by the severe cyclone.
“He walked on in front of our houses that we rebuilt by ourselves. Apparently, they helped in reconstructing our houses. We have received only two Pyis of rice, two packs of instant dry noodles and an egg for each family from the military,” said a local in Rakhine.
