The military convoy of junta troops was ambushed on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway between Mayan Chaung and Moppalin villages in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, according to the allied resistance forces.
On July 11, around 12:00 noon, the allied resistance forces ambushed a military convoy of seven vehicles that was heading to Kyaikto town from Sittaung with heavy weapons and small arms.
The junta forces opened fire recklessly and drove away, said a member of the PDF.
The 40-mm mortar shell fired by resistance fighters hit the rear side of a military vehicle, and some soldiers might have been killed, he said.
A civilian was injured when the military convoy attacked the houses on both sides of the road with small arms while throwing hand grenades, reported Kyaikto Revolutionary Forces (KRF).
The junta convoy has been frequently attacked on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road since the military coup, suffering heavy losses.
On July 2, six junta soldiers were injured in the attacks on a patrol vehicle and checkpoint near Ingabo and Thaebyuchaung villages in Kyaikto.
