The invasion of regime troops towards Thamaung Taung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Township has forced many residents to flee their homes, locals told Than Lwin Times.

The military column of more than 60 troops marched from Nakhan Taw hamlet to Khamaung Taung village on July 12, firing heavy weapons.

Nearly 1,000 residents of Nakhan Taw and Khamaung Taung villages are fleeing to safety due to the arrival of junta troops.

The artillery shelling by advanced troops killed Ma Yin Mar Htwe, 16, in Khamaung Taung, and wounded Maung Naing Lwin,25.

The regime troops stormed the houses, looted gold, cash, and valuable things while stationed in Khamaung Taung village, and set fire to three houses, said the locals.

On March 21, 150-strong junta troops raided Nyaw Pyin village and Auk Kyauk Wut village in Launglon Township and burned nearly 150 homes.
