Thayetchaung, July (18)
Seven regime troops sustained injuries in the ambush attack near Mway Mountain between Yange and Kywe Min Kon villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Thayetchaung, according to the resistance forces.
Acting on a tip-off from an informant, the allied resistance forces ambushed a convoy of two military vehicles carrying 60 junta troops heading to Palaw around 2 p.m. on July 16.
After the exchange of fire between the two sides for almost 15 minutes, the military council retreated immediately, said a resistance fighter.
Locals from Yange, Kamyaing, and Kywe Min Kon villages who had escaped the conflict have returned home.
The regime forces shot and killed U Thar Htoo, a 40-year-old, who was fetching household items in Khamaung Taung village, Launglon Township, around 6 a.m. on that day.
Nearly 30,000 people were forcibly displaced by fighting and junta shelling in June in the conflict-hit Tanintharyi Region.
