Winye, July (26)
Two comrades from allied KNLA forces lost their lives in a battle that broke out in Win Ye under the territory of KNU Brigade 6, reported KNU on July 25.
On July 23, the combined forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) clashed with the junta army, which advanced towards Wewun village in Win Ye Township.
The KNLA lost two comrades in the battle and two others sustained injuries, while four junta soldiers were killed, said the statement.
On the same day, the military convoys hit landmines twice when they were heading Ye from Thanbyuzayet, destroying one vehicle and killing six military personnel.
The military tension remains high until July 25 following the battle, and regime troops have carried out inspections on Ye-Thabyuzayet Road, according to locals.
Since June 18, the revolutionary forces, including the KNLA, have started operations to control the area along the Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei No. 8 Road.
In response to the efforts of the revolutionary forces to control the territory, the junta army’s invasion and artillery shelling increased tensions between the two sides.
