There have been ongoing battles as junta troops launched an invasion of Belin Township in Mon State, according to KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee.

Since July 24, when a junta column of nearly 60 troops entered Khalaukinn village from Melang, and clashed with the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces.

The chairman of the KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee said a body of junta sergeant was discovered and some weapons were confiscated.

The junta army clashed with the combined forces of KNLA in Alu Lay village on July 25 while another battle broke out in the morning of July 26 near Shwe Yaung Pya village.

The junta troops set fire to three civilian cars and took three motorcycles after a battle in Alu Lay village.

The residents of three nearby villages, including Alu Lay, have currently been forced to flee to safety.

On July 21, the indiscriminate shelling by the junta into Shwe Yaung Pya, Zeewun and Ah Win Gyi villages in Belin caused nearly 3,000 residents to flee their homes, according to a statement released by KNU-Thaton District.
