Kawkareik, 8 August
A road section of Asia Highway on Myawady-Kawkareik route in Kayin state was damaged due to heavy rain on 7 August afternoon.
Landslide destroyed the road, and blocked transportation.
Heavy rains bust banks of Thanlwin, Thaungyin, Haungtharaw and Gyaing rivers in Kayin state, and people from flood-affected area were evacuated to temporary rescue centers in nearby towns.
Lower areas of Myawady, Kawkareik, Hpa-an, Hlinebwe, Papun and Kyainseikkyi townships are also inundated from floodwater, and thousands of locals are staying at temporary rescue centers.
