Two 100-household administrators were killed and three others were injured in a shooting at the U Chit Swe tea shop in Asin Village in Mon State’s Ye Township, Mon State, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
Two gunmen arrived on a motorcycle and fired roughly 20 shots at members of the Asin village administration and militia group who were present inside U Chit Swe’s tea shop.
U Yin Wai, 67, the head of 100-household , and U Aung Thein, 62, were gunned down and died on the spot.
Militia member Ko Win Htike, who fled the shooting, and local residents Ko Myo Tun and Ko Lat, each received bullet wounds and are in critical condition, a resident said.
The injured were taken to Ye Township Public Hospital, and one of them died at the hospital, but Than Lwin Times has not been able to independently confirm the report.
No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting, and the junta forces have arrived in Asin village to investigate.
The administration office of Zee Phyu Thaung village in Ye Township was attacked on April 11, killing two soldiers and one young civilian.
Ye Township, which has been under martial law, is a resistance stronghold, and regime forces and departments are frequently attacked, prompting the junta to beef up security.
