The military council has announced the appointment of a new colonel to replace Colonel Thein Lin, Tanintharyi Region Minister for Security and Border Affairs, who is being investigated for corruption.
According to Article 419 of the Constitution, the Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Colonel Thein Lin, has been replaced by Colonel Min Min Latt, an instructor at the Defense Services Academy.
The new Chief Minister, Colonel Min Min Latt, has been in office since last month, and the military council released the appointment letter yesterday, sources close to the military regime told Than Lwin Times.
On July 26, the Special Task Force from Nay Pyi Taw arrested Brigadier General Thit Lwin Htoo, Deputy Commander of the Coastal Region Command; Brigadier General Win Kyaw, Division Commander of No. 20 Military Operations Command (MOC); and Colonel Thein Lin, former Chief Minister for Security and Border Affairs.
The military council has sealed the assets of former Chief Minister Colonel Thein Lin, and at least 10 businessmen from Myeik and Kawthaung are also being investigated for their alleged involvement in bribery.
In addition, Colonel Aung Myo Tun from the Military Strategy Headquarters took the place of the deputy commander of Costal Region Command, who is under investigation, and Colonel Zeyar Lin from the Northeast Command has substituted the Division Commander of MOC-20, according to sources close to the matter.
