Dawei, 20 August
A soldier was shot dead by a sniper at the Hpayarme checkpoint near Maung Mae Shaung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei township, according to local resistance forces.
The Hpayarme checkpoint, where more than 40 troops were stationed, was under sniper attack by the combined resistance forces around 4 pm on 18 August.
The spokesperson of the Dawei Guerilla Force told Than Lwin Times that a junta soldier who was walking was killed on the spot in the attack.
The soldier was hit by a sniper and died, but the military council did not fire back, and the dead soldier was taken away in an ambulance and left for Dawei.
The combined forces of Battalion 1 – Dawei District, Cuckoo Column, and the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) claimed responsibility for the attack.
On 14 August, the DGRF joint forces opened fire on the checkpoint of military regime in Eain Shae Pyin in Dawei, resulting in casualties on junta side.
