Kyaikto, 13 September
The military council sealed off the home of a member of People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Ward No. 3 of Theinzayet in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, locals told Than Lwin Times.
A group of soldiers, police, and members of the administrative staff cordoned off PDF Comrade U San Ya’s home on September 11 afternoon under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
U San Ya was a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Theinzayet, and he took up arms after witnessing the violent crackdown by the military council on peaceful protesters against the military coup.
The military council has opened a case against U San Ra under sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, which can carry a life sentence as well as the death penalty.
“Although the homes of the revolutionary soldiers are being sealed off, we will continue to fight for uprooting the military dictatorship, said a PDF official in Kyaikto Township.
In August, the military council also sealed off the homes of Ko Ye Thway Nyi and Ko Yan Shin, PDF members from Kyaikto Township.
Following the coup, at least 15 homes and properties belonging to activists and PDF comrades, including the homes of NLD MPs, were sealed off in Kyaikto Township.
