Dawei, 13 September

Two junta soldiers were killed in an attack on the military council’s Hpayarme checkpoint near Maung Mae Shaung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, reported the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF).

The combined resistance forces launched an attack on Hpayarme checkpoint, where regime troops as well as policemen were stationed, using sniper and mortar shells around 2 p.m. on 11 September.

The DGRF’s information official told Than Lwin Times that two members of the military council were killed on the spot by sniper fire.

After the attack, when the People’s Defense Forces retreated, they were shot back with small arms from the checkpoint, but there were no casualties.

The Hpayarme checkpoint is notorious for extorting money from travelers and arresting some locals.

The allied resistance forces attacked Hpayarme checkpoint three times in September, with the junta army suffering heavy losses.
