Pinlaung, 14 September
People’s Defence Force in Pekhon township raided houses of local leaders of Pa-O National Organization (PNO) in Pinlaung township, southern Shan state.
The raid on house of Khun Maung Win, a local leader of PNO, in Nant Pha Mu village, occurred on 20 August, but he was not arrested as he was away from home for a meeting. The PDF seized K9 million collected from locals for buying weapons and 400 bullets from his house.
On 28 August, the resistance forces also raided the house of Al Wai, another local leader of PNO, in Nant Tote village. He was killed in exchange fire. A pistol, some bullets of 9-MM, WY stimulant tablets and a grenade were confiscated from his house.
Than Lwin Times could not contact PDFs in Pekhon township for information about the raids.
PNO signed ceasefire agreement with former junta regime in 1991, and was reformed into a local militia. After 2021 military coup, its leader U Aung Kham Htee held meetings with coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing frequently.
Resistance forces said that PNO also enforced the miliary troops in armed clashes at Shan and Kayah border areas.
