Kyaikto, 16 Setpermber
The alliance of anti-junta resistance forces said they launched artillery shells on Theinzayet police station in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township.
On September 14, at around 5:00 p.m., the resistance fighters attacked the Theinzayet police station, where soldiers and policemen are stationed, with seven 40-mm mortar shells.
The shells exploded after landing on the police compound, and casualties and damages are still being investigated, said a member of the allied resistance forces.
After the attack on the Theinzayet police station, the regime forces resorted to indiscriminate firing with small arms and heavy weapons, which caused fear and panic among the local people, said the locals.
Since the coup, Theinzayet police station has been attacked at least five times, with the regime forces suffering heavy losses.
In August, the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), including the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), carried out inspections to assure the security of the area in the resistance stronghold of Theinzayet.
