Seven locals were arrested in massive raids in Tanintharyi Region’s Pala and Launglon Townships, according to locals.
On 22 September, regime troops arrested Ko Aung Ko Win and Ko Kyaw Soe Naing at their homes in Launglon Township’s Ward C.
In the evening of the same day, five local residents, including U Naung Mae, U Htwe Thein, Ko Naing Min, Ko Latt and a woman from Pala, were also arrested.
According to locals, those arrested were vendors, dependents, and odd-job men aged 20 to 50.
They were taken to the respective police stations and interrogation centers and were not allowed to see their families, said locals.
The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) reported that nearly 1,800 civilians were arrested in Tanintharyi Region following the coup.
