Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Lt-Gen Soe Htut, Major-Gen Yan Naung Soe, and Deputy Commerce Minister U Nyunt Aung are being investigated under house arrest for corruption and leakage of state secrets. People are very interested in actions against them, and have raised questions about possible split among the military organization.

This interview with veteran Advocate U Kyee Myint is about investigation to senior military officials, possible complications in their organization and what the National Unity Government should be done in this situation. a

TLT: The most trustworthy aide of military chief, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, and his group are being investigated for corruption cases. What is your view on this, and which action will the military chief take against them?

U Kyee Myint: General Nay Win and General Than Shwe mapped out the same strategy. They used corruption charges for the removal  from political world. Min Aung Hlaing is now using this method. His action is different from his senior ones who did it for political purpose. However, Min Aung Hlaing is now closer to his end. He is taking action against his own aides.  Commodity prices are skyrocketing, foreign currency exchange rate is out of control, economy is declining, and frontline troops of military are being defeated. The military chief’s close aides are also committing bribery cases.

TLT: What will be possible consequences in the military organization after the spread of news about corruption cases?

U Kyee Myint: The military is disorganizing. Padho Saw Tar Nee said that they raided a military camp. They confiscated many weapons. A military camp with 30 soldiers was controlled in 25 minutes. The military is being defeated in Laizar, Kayah and Karenni. The resistance forces have been closer to Bago mountain range and Nay Pyi Taw.

TLT: What measures should NUG be done amid corruption cases of senior military officers?

U Kyee Myint: Resistance forces should take advantages from this situation. They should increase offensive. Instead, they are pushing other resistance groups for merger of troops in exchange of supplies. It is not the right time to do so. But they need to fight against the military simultaneously.

TLT: What is your advice to all participant in Spring Revolution?

U Kyee Myint: The resistance forces need to fight for victory with offensives. All EAOs and NUG forces should carry out offensives. Although KNU is fighting,  progress of NUG forces are not seen.

TLT: What is your concluding message to people?

U Kyee Myint: People need to be aware of the changing situations. The NUG should lead in public awareness on the revolution, and implement the fights. They should stop arguments among each other, and the release of frequent announcements.
