Nyaunglaybin, 3 October

Junta army arrested and killed two civilians from Pazun Myaung village in KNU-controlled Nyaunglaybin District’s Shwe Kyin Township, according to a report released by the Karen National Union (KNU).

On September 29, the 20th Light Infantry Battalion stationed in Pazun Myaung village arrested 40-year-old U Min Min, U Gyi, and 30-year-old Ko Phyo Wai Oo for no apparent reason.

On September 30, the former two were killed in custody, and the third one escaped, said the statement of KNU.

More than 200,000 local people have fled their homes due to human rights violations by regime forces during the coup in KNU’s Nyaunglaybin District, said the Karen Peace Support Network.

The KNU calls on international governments and organizations, including the United Nations, to expand sanctions against the military council, which is targeting civilians and committing human rights violations, in more effective ways.
