Ye, 11 October
A ward administrator was shot and killed near Mya Thida market in Mon State’s Ye Tonwship under the martial law around 9 a.m. on 10 October, locals told Than Lwin Times.
U Aye Lwin, who is the administrator of Aung Myetta Ward in Ye, was leaving his home alone on a motorcycle when unknown gunmen followed him on a motorcycle and shot him at close range.
According to locals, administrator U Aye Lwin received wounds in the back and abdomen and was taken from Ye Hospital to Mawlamyine Hospital due to his critical condition.
The leader of the Ye Balu group, a revolutionary force based in Ye Township, revealed on his social media account that they assassinated administrator U Aye Lwin, who is also the militia leader.
Residents say that the deceased U Aye Lwin has been the administrator for just over seven months and is a reliable one for the military council, but Than Lwin Times has not been able to independently confirm it.
U Aye Lwin was appointed to replace the former administrator, U Aung Kyaw, who was shot dead in Aung Myetta Ward, Ye Township, on December 21 last year.
