Nay Pyi Taw, 26 October
The Commander-in-Chief of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) called on the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and allies to continue fighting together to bring the military dictatorship to an end.
The KIA Commander-in-Chief stated this in a letter of congratulations sent to the Arakan Army (AA), People’s Defense Force (PDF), All Burma Students’ Democratic Front-Northern Burma (ABSDF-NB), Chin National Army (CNA), and Kuki National Army (KNA-Burma).
The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on October 24 that it had received that message from the Commander-in-Chief of the KIA to the People’s Defense Army (PDF) and its allies.
In the letter of honor, the Commander-in-Chief of the KIA expressed his special gratitude and recognition to all the allied forces and responsible commanders who worked together with KIA’s brigades, battalions, troops, and Kachin PDF and sacrificed their own lives to fight.
The spokesperson of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), Colonel Naw Bu told Than Lwin Times, “This is the first time I have heard of the KIA Commander-in-Chief sending a congratulatory letter to military allies, and I don’t think it is for any other political purpose.”
Last week, the KIA and its allies captured the Namkut camp, 10 miles southwest of Monekoe in northern Shan State.
In addition, the KIA and allied groups were able to seize the Aungjar camp called Le Lon camp near the village of Waing Maw Namsanyang in Kachin State.
U Yee Mon, the defense minister of the NUG, wrote on his Facebook page that “In the siege of Aungjar camp, we were able to wipe out more than a hundred enemy forces, and this was a victory won by the strength of allies led by the KIA, including the PDF Army, as well as the initial step of a strategic offensive with the power of the revolutionary group.”
The military council has reported that it is trying to recapture the camps, and at least four KIA soldiers were killed due to the retaliatory attack on the 6th KIA brigade with airstrikes and artillery.
Dr. Hla Kyaw Zww, a political analyst, stated, “The KIA Commander-in-Chief’s congratulatory letter is an honor to all allies who are involved in the entire military strategy, and if everyone moves forward in harmony, they will be able to root out the military dictatorship.”
The NUG’s Ministry of Defense also made it clear that its People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) will work relentlessly in collaboration with allied revolutionary groups like the KIO/KIA to bring the military regime down.
