The police station in Tanintharyi Region’s Thayetchaung Township was attacked by resistance fighters on 25 October, members of the local defense force told Than Lwin Times.

The joint revolutionary forces attacked the police station where junta soldiers and police were stationed with heavy weapons and small arms around 5 a.m.

The attack sparked a 30-minute exchange of fire between the two sides, during which junta battalions unleashed artillery shells.

At least four junta soldiers may be killed and injured in the attack on the police station, according to officials of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) in Thayetchaung Township.

The military council’s Light Infantry Battalions 300, 304, and 305 in Thayetchaung Township assisted his forces by firing heavy weapons.

The mortar shell launched by the junta army exploded in Kyauk Myaung village, injuring four local people and destroying two houses, said the locals.

On October 17, a battle broke out between the junta army and the local defense forces between Ka Dwe and Ya Nge villages in Thayetchaung Township, killing at least 10 regime soldiers.
