A battle broke out in Karen State’s Kawkayeik Township, killing 11 junta soldiers, including a battalion commander, reported the KNU-Dooplaya District on October 25.

The clash occurred from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. as the three battalions under Division 44 advanced towards Sin Gon village in eastern Kawkayeik on 24 October.

The advanced junta army clashed with the joint forces of KNLA near Asian Road (Tanaymu), killing six military personnel, including Lt. Col. Nyein Chan Ko Ko from Light Infantry Battalion 207, and injuring eight others.

Two comrades of the combined forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) were injured in the battle, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, at 11:00 a.m. that day, the KNLA launched a sniper attack on Infantry Battalion 231 under 12th Military Operations Command (MOC-12) stationed at the swimming pool in Kawkayeik, killing two soldiers, according to the statement.

On the same day, at 3:30 p.m., the joint forces of the KNLA opened fire on the 202nd Battalion of Division 22, which invaded Ta Tan Ku village in Kawkayeik Township, killing three more soldiers.

A helicopter gunship strafed the villages of Sin Gon, Maung Ma Ywar Thit, Kamai Gon in Kawkayeik Township of the 6th Brigade three times, and the army also launched heavy weapons into the villages of Yele Gon, Sin Gon, Ywar Thit Gon, Nan Shwe Hmone, Aung Hlaing, and Ta Tan Ku.

The mortar shell fired by the military council exploded in Yele Gon village of Kawkayeik Township, destroying one house and killing one cow, according to the statement of the KNU-Dooplaya District.
