Kokant, 29 October

The   administrative body of Shan State Special Region-1 (MNDAA) announced on October 28 that the lives and property of junta soldiers and policemen in the Kokang region of northern Shan State would be protected if they surrendered.

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has also warned pro-military Kokang administrative and departmental staff to keep their documents, photos, data, vouchers, and funds.

The MNDAA also warned  that if they deliberately destroyed the items, they would face severe punishment, and that if the items were damaged, they would be charged with dereliction of duty after the battle.

The policy of treating prisoners of war with care also applies to members of the military council, and those who surrender will have full rights, and the wounded will also receive proper medical treatment, the statement said.

The MNDAA stated that wanted criminals should be reported to the MNDAA by their accountants, bodyguards, and families, and those who hide them or help them escape will face severe punishments.

If regime troops, combatants from Kokang puppet groups, policemen, and administrative staff from the Kokang area confess their guilt to the MNDAA, they will be welcomed, and the crimes will be dealt with in a generous manner.

The MNDAA, an ethnic Kokang group, captured three more junta strongholds in northern Shan State on the second day of the Operation 1027 of the Brotherhood Alliance, October 28.
