Mawlamyine, 3 November
A passenger vehicle was hit by a landmine on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Kyundaw village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, injuring eight passengers, locals and social workers told Than Lwin Times.
Aung Kyaw Moe Express struck a landmine near PT Power gas station around 9:30 p.m. on November 1 while leaving for Mawlamyine from Kyaikto.
A total of eight passengers, four men and four women, sustained injuries, and one of them, a man with a shrapnel wound, is in critical condition.
The passenger bus was carrying 40 people, and the injured were taken to public hospitals in Kyaikto and Thaton Districts, according to the rescue team.
Frequent skirmishes and gunfights occurred on the Yangon-Mawalamyine highway.
According to the figure compiled by Than Lwin Times, at least 20 civilians were killed and nearly 60 others injured in the exchange of fire and fighting on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway since the coup.
