Heavy casualties have been reported in the battle that took place between regime troops and resistance fighters in Karen State’s Kyainseikkyi Township since around 5 a.m. on November 2, said locals.
Clashes erupted after the revolutionary forces launched offensives against the military regime’s police station, battalions, and camps.
Some civilians were injured when the artillery shells exploded in the residential areas, and the houses were also damaged.
During the battle, the helicopter gunship strafed the communities around 10 a.m., and the fighting subsided in the evening, according to locals.
According to on-the-ground reports, both sides suffered casualties during the battle, but the exact number is still unknown.
The locals warned against unnecessary travel Kyainseikkyi-Phayar Thone Zuu road amid intense fighting.
On the night of November 1, the Infantry Battalion 284 fired heavy weapons at the surrounding area in Kyainseikkyi, and clashes broke out between the two sides on the Khote Khwar village on the Kyainseikkyi-Kyaikdon road, according to a source on the ground.
Similarly, the allied resistance forces engaged in a fight with an advanced junta column near Kyaikdo on October 24.
The fighting that took place in Kyaikdon has forced the local people from at least five villages to seek refuge, and they have not been able to return to their homes until now, locals said.
