On the first day of battle in Rakhine state on 13 November, the United League of Arakan /Arkan Army (ULA/AA) occupied some military camps, including the border guard outposts in Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships, and arrested some junta officers.
“We confirm that the Maungdaw border guard force was captured on 13 November. In Mrauk U, both sides are in exchange of fire with heavy weapons. Some junta officers have been arrested” a local close to the Rakhine National League/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) told Than Lwin Times.
Regarding this issue, U Khaing Thukha, the spokeperson of AA, told Rakhine local media, the detail information will be released soon.
Around 5:00 a.m. on 13 November, the AA launched an offensive attack on the two Yathedaung BGF outpost, Chaingkhali Camp and Doe Pike camp, located on the Agnu Maw-Maungdaw road in the southern part of Rathetaung township.
In addition, AA forces chased a military convoy on the Union highway near lower Phapyo village of outer Minbya township, and the both are fighting. Two military vehicles were set on fire and some soldiers were arrested, the locals said.
Both sides exchanged fire with heavy weapons in Mrauk U township, and the casualty could not be confirmed until the evening of 13 November.
Schools and markets in Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Ponnagyun, Taunggoup, Rathedaung are also reportedly to be closed due to armed conflcits.
As the junta has closed most waterways and land road in Rakhine State, travelers are trapped and are unable to help each other.
Phone lines and internet lines are still available in some townships except in the conflict areas, according to the residents.
Due to the fighting, the villagers from Chaingkhali and Done Pike villages in Rathetaung township have fled to the nearby valleys and villages for safety.
Most of these IDPs are women and children, and they are in urgenlty need of foods, medicine, shelter, blankets and other fundamental items, locals said.
Humanitarian organizations for the displaced persons have no access to these camps due to the travel restrictions of the military council.
