Kyaikmaraw, 15 November

Heavy fighting has continued in Chaunghnakhwa village, which was seized by resistance forces in Mon State’s Kyaikmaraw Township on November 14, according to locals and sources on the ground.

On November 14, the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and resistance forces launched an attack on a police station and a bridge checkpoint in Chaunghnakhwa village.

The two junta camps were completely occupied by the revolutionary forces on November 13, the fourth day of the battle.

On November 14, more than 30 regime troops arrived at the police station in Chaunghnakhwa, which was burned down by the revolutionary forces, and the fighting resumed.

The military council’s Mudon-based strategic hill fired heavy weapons incessantly during the battle, and the sounds of shelling could be heard all around Chaunghnakhwa, said the displaced people.

The clashes forced all the villagers from Chaunghnakhwa and seven adjacent villages to flee to safe places, sources on the ground told Than Lwin Times.

The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on November 13 evening that 14 soldiers, including the battalion commander and officers of the 22nd Division based in Hpa-an, were killed, five were captured alive, and 23 others surrendered in the Chaunghnakhwa battle.

The junta’s air raid killed a woman and a child in Pawlaw village, damaging houses, locals said.
