Paletwa, 12 December
Two junta soldiers and eight policemen defected in Paletwa district, Chin State, according to the Paletwa self-administration district council.
PrivateKyaw Htet Wai and Lance Corporal Naing Lin Aung of the 299th infantry battalion of military council strategy 3, in Shinletwa village, Paletwa district, defected to the Chinland Defense Force- Paletwa on 29 November.
On 7 December, 8 more policemen on duty at Shinletwa police station also defected.
A total of 10 defected junta soldiers and policemen have been sent to a safe place, in line with article 2 and 3 of the statement announced on 14 November 2023 by the Paletwa’s self-administration district council / Chin land Defense Force- Paletwa.
Moreover, those who come to defect will always be welcomed by the Palatwa self-administration district council, according to the statement.
Since the military coup in Myanmar, the defected junta soldiers and policemen to the defense forces have been nearly 20,000, according to the NUG’s data.
