Three policemen, including a deputy inspector, from Kalainaung police station were killed in an attack near a 60-mile village in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, according to locals and resistance forces.
On December 12, at around 8:30 a.m., the local defense forces ambushed the police chief and his team as they came in two cars to carry the seized drugs at the Ma Hlwe Taung checkpoint.
Deputy inspector Nai Min Aung, police sergeant Maung Nu, and one constable died on the spot in the ambush attack, and the car carrying the station commander turned around and ran away, said a local defense force.
The revolutionary forces confiscated three firemen, a phone, and other items from the policemen.
The dead policemen’s bodies were picked up by family members and sent to Kalainaugn Hospital; the police and army did not pick them up.
The local defense forces have not released any statements about the ambush attack on the police force.
On November 18, at least five policemen were injured in the landmine attack when they entered Mudoo village in Yebyu Township.
