Myeik, 30 December
The allied resistance forces raided a junta toll gate in Tagan village, Tanitntharyi Region’s Myeik Township, reported the Kyunsu PDF.
The combined People’s Defense Force launched a raid on the toll gate and set fire to it around midnight on 28 December.
A member of the junta army escaped, and four others were captured in the raid, said an official of the Kyunsu PDF.
Those detainees are not soldiers but rather civilians hired by the military council to collect fees at the gate.
The PDFs said that the four arrestees were interrogated and released along with their belongings.
The attack was jointly carried out by Kyunsu PDF, Taw Pone Gyi PDF (Tanintharyi PDF), and Shadow Guerrilla Force (Palaw PDF).
Since this month, the depleted junta army has been hiring civilians for security by paying daily wages in Myeik Township, and the same is being done in Kawthaung Township, said locals.
