More than 2,000 clashes have occurred between the junta army and the combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) in the KNU-held Kawthoolei area over the past six months, reported the KNU.
According to the statement, there were 2,495 major and minor clashes between the combined forces and the regime troops in the Kawthoolei administrative area between January 1 and June 30 of this year.
The battle claimed 2,632 junta soldiers: five battalion commanders, five deputy battalion commanders, nine captains, four lieutenants, five warrant officers 1, and injured 1,685 military personnel, including one deputy battalion commander, said the statement.
The KNLA/KNDO lost 76 comrades, 257 others sustained injuries, and 99 military vehicles were destroyed in six months.
The KNU spokesperson, Padoh Saw Kale Sae told Than Lwin Times that the joint operations in the 6-month battle had military advantages in fighting against the common enemy, the military regime.

The number of IDPs has reached nearly 600,000 due to the fighting in Kawthoolei area and war crimes and human rights abuses by the junta army, and they are facing many difficulties.
The displaced people are facing a lack of shelter and food during the rainy season and are in urgent need of humanitarian aid, the KNU said.
