Lt Gen Than Hlaing, a former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and former Police General, forced to retire on June 3, the sources close to the military council told Than Lwin Times.
Lt Gen Than Hlaing was forced to retire on allegations that he was successful in military operations in Magwe Region and took bribes of money from companies.
Lt Gen Than Hlaing was detained by the military council for more than a month at Ba Yink Naung Venue in Nay Pyi Taw before being forced to retire.
Lieutenant General Than Hlaing, 57, is a 29th intake graduate of the Defence Service Academy. He served as Commander of the Eastern Command and the Northern Command.
In addition, Lt. Gen. Than Hlaing served as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Chief of Police after the coup, and he was relieved of his duties on May 2.
