Three members of a family from Htaung Mon village in Tanintharyi Region’s Bokepyin Township were gunned down, killing the parents and seriously injuring their son, the spokesperson of local defense force told Than Lwin Times.
U Khin Maung Lwin,68, and his family were at their home in the orchard where they live when two gunmen arrived and opened fire on them around 9 p.m. on 1 August.
U Khin Maung Lwin was shot in the abdomen and chest, and his wife, Daw Myint Khaing, 60, was also fatally wounded in the right rib and chest, both of whom died on the spot.
Their son, 24-year-old Ko Kyaw Kyaw Lwin, received serious injuries and is being treated at the Bokepyin Township Public Hospital.
The spokesperson for Tanintharyi-PDF said that the incident of three families being shot is a personal matter, but the details of the incident are still being investigated.
On January 13, eight men accused of being involved in human trafficking were killed near Ywar Hae Lu village on the way to Shan Koe village in Bo Kyong Township, and it has yet to be known which group was responsible for the attack.
