Mawlamyine 4 August
A Buddhist monk jumped from Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) into river in committing suicide on 11 am 2 August.
Local rescue team said to Than Lwin Times that a monk and an elderly novice from Shwe Yin Aye monastery of Muttama town, Paung township, returned from hospital in Mawlamyine by a tricycle.
As they were on the bridge, the elderly novice asked the tricycle driver to stop for excretion, but he jumped into the river to commit suicide.
His body has not been discovered by the rescue teams.
