Yebyu, 6 August
On August 4, the Kanbauk Defense Force (KBDF) announced their resignation from the People’s Defense Force of Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region.
According to the statement, despite their resignation as a member of the Yebyu PDF, the KBDF will continue to obey the norms and policies of the National Unity Government (NUG) and serve as a genuine local force.
It also said that it will cooperate with allied forces that share the same military goals and fight until the establishment of a federal democratic union in accordance with the NUG’s guidelines.
The spokesperson of the Kanbauk Defense Force (KBDF) told Than Lwin Times that they had to break up with Yebyu People’s Defense Force because of some weakness in opposing the military regime, and there were no other issues.
The KBDF has been active as a Local People’s Defense Force since the military coup and has been a member of the PDF since the beginning of 2022.
Regarding the resignation of the KBDF, the Yebyu PDF spokeswoman stated that it will be submitted to the district and regional levels in accordance with the procedure.
The Kanbauk Defense Force (KBDF) is a local defense force fighting against the military regime in cooperation with revolutionary alliances from Mon State and Karen State, besides Tanintharyi.
