Myawaddy, 6 September
The Federal Wings drone force has warned the junta’s unarmed staff and their family members and military families to leave their respective offices, military outposts and staff housing.
The Federal Wings drone force issued a warning after the attacks on the general administration office and police station in Karen State’s Myawaddy, in which five soldiers and administrative staff were killed and 11 others were injured.
The Federal Wings drone force says it only targets the junta army and armed people, forcing unarmed family members to flee offices and staff housing.
The revolutionary group requested that the people move away from the military council’s offices and military bases in order to avoid drone attacks.
On September 3, drone attacks on the Myawaddy general administrative office and the police station killed Major Aung Kyaw Min, the temporary battalion commander of Infantry Battalion 275, administrator of Myawaddy District U Soe Tint, district administrator U Tun Tun Lin, office clerk U Pyae Phyo Aung, and traffic sub-inspector Nay Lin Soe, and injured 11 others, according to Federal Wings.
Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, Minister of Home Affairs of the military regime, admitted at the Seventeenth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (17th AMMTC) on August 21 that the use of unmanned drones by revolutionary forces would pose a challenge in the future.
The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on August 23 that more than 400 drones purchased with revolutionary funds to be used for surveillance, combat, and propaganda have been provided to revolutionary forces from various regions and states.
