A CDM midwife living in Mawlamyine, Mon State, has been arrested and charged by the military council for allegedly sharing politically sensitive post on social media, according to sources close to the military regime.
Daw Khin Khin Wai was arrested by the military council on November 2 as she shared the news of the assassination of U Zaw Naing Lin, head of Ye Township’s Fisheries Department, on her social network.
A source close to the military council police told Than Lwin Times that the military council has filed a lawsuit against Daw Khin Khin Wai under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code.
Daw Khin Khin Wai, a midwife, worked at the rural health center in Barbu Kon village, Kyaikmaraw Township, and joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) in the aftermath of the military coup.
On October 18, U Zaw Naing Lin, the head of the Fisheries Department, was shot dead by the Ye Balu resistance force at a tea shop in Yanggyi Aung Ward, Ye Township.
The Assistance Association for the Political Prisoners (AAPP) reported that nearly 800 civilians have been arrested under various sections in Mon State since the coup.
