An artillery shell explosion in Tanaw Kyun village in Bago Region’s Waw Township killed four civilians and injured seven others, locals told Than Lwin Times.
The blast occurred when the junta unit stationed at Mokyokon near the old Sittaung Bridge fired a mortar shell into Tanaw Kyun village around 2 p.m. on 7 November.
According to local residents, the military council responded to the revolutionary forces’ drone attack on the office of the Theinzayet administrative office with a heavy weapon, resulting in the explosion in Tanaw Kyung village.
Four local residents, Ko Aung Ko, Ko Aung San Oo as well as Ko Kyaw Lin Tun including junta-appointed head of the 100-household U Kyaw Myint, were killed by shrapnel wounds.
Besides, the blast also injured Ko Aung Thu, Ko Nay Lin Tun, Ko Han Tun Aung, and Ko Phoe Sein.
The deceased were reportedly transported to Myit Kyo district hospital and Bago public hospital.
The revolutionary forces have claimed that two officers were killed and at least four were injured in the attack on the general administrative office in Theinzayet, but Than Lwin Times has not yet been able to independently confirm the report.
